We've spoken about how pharmaceutical brands are developed before on Molecular Ideas. It's a complex process in which creative ideas must be matched to mechanisms of action and market positioning. Sometimes, a name's meaning may not be clear. Other times, a name's meaning is subtle or not there at all.
We've developed an exciting quiz to test your understanding of recent pharmaceutical brands...by comparing them to Pokémon! These creatures of myth from the game series of the same name have names that imply various meanings. Just like drug brands, Pokémon names refer to the type, attributes, or what makes a given creature unique.
We break down the hidden meanings behind each drug name and point out some striking similarities to Pokémon names. Almost all of the pharmaceutical brands listed here were approved in the last few years, with a few classics thrown in for fun. We've included Pokémon from all seven generations.
For the record - there are lots more of these quizzes out there on the internet - and we've built this one to be especially difficult for the uninitiated. Can you successfully identify them all? There are a lot of questions - don't give up!
